John Pablo Rojas
is 9 months today
and he does little dances
weighs a ton (not really)
crawls like he's in the military (not telling you which one)
and has two teeth

he growls too

proud father

monday afternoon
john is crawling with pride
and chasing the cats
steadily working on
"When The City Sleeps"

i have a good amount
of poems and i feel it's
a good collection
i think it's better than
"Pelo Bueno"
new poems, older poems
better written poems
will always sound/read better

had a party for John over the weekend
first time my family oputside of the nucleas
had seen him, saw my cousin and their gangs
grandmother was drunk, uncle was drunk
father was talking about baseball, little brother
had his son who's older than John Pablo
and my brother is 10 years younger than me

you see i told everyone i'm puerto rican
Chris Maestro came through
he was the only one of my friends
that i invited, hey people have lives
and other parties to go to

but today is monday
the afternoon of the first workday
i'm a little tired
it's 12:15 p.m.
the room is actually quiet
the students won't be
but that's okay
i punch hard
(ignore the last line)

Omar Rodriguez-Lopez (The Mars Volta)

i just read the line up and i didn't know

oh well, fatherhood comes first
Shappy (his star wars figures)
sacrifice is the first step

i am searching for Rimbaud
stomach is turning
damn summertime blues

i am counting the clouds
feet are swollen
the wind is laughing

there's crackheads on my block
and my boys look like them
i don't know their name

it's too hot to think
to humid to breathe
where is the fall?
